Bookkeeping for Chino businesses
The Chino business license in plain words
Chino says anyone who conducts business in the city needs a license. That includes out of town delivery drivers, service people and contractors who work in Chino.
Office or service work done from your home also needs a Chino business license. A home business also needs a Home Occupation Permit from the Planning Division.
A Chino license is good for one year. The city sends a courtesy renewal notice 30 days before it expires, but not getting a notice does not excuse a late renewal. Start on the City of Chino business license FAQ page.
Records to keep for your Chino license
| Record | What to keep | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Business license and renewal date | A copy and the date it expires | It is good for one year, so put the date on your calendar |
| Home Occupation Permit, if you work from home | A copy of the permit | A home business needs it along with the license |
| Fictitious business name or seller permit, if needed | Copies of the filings | The city says new owners should check if they need them |
| City fees you paid | Receipts for each fee | We record them as license and permit expense |
How we work with Chino businesses
We do monthly bookkeeping and payroll. We work in QuickBooks Online and Xero. We close your books by day 10 and send a profit and loss statement, a balance sheet and a cash summary.
We are not the city and we are not lawyers. Rules, costs and forms change, so always check with the city before you apply or renew. This guide is based on the city's own business license information.
